The ARMADA UNIVERSITY LIVE SERIES is a brand-new series of short courses, all filmed in front of a LIVE audience at the four-day live masterclass program of Armada University and FaderPro during Amsterdam Dance Event. In these courses, your favorite artists dig deep into their pool of creativity to make a new track idea from scratch in less than an hour, giving tips and tricks while explaining every bit of their workflow.

*Please note that purchasing a course from this Live Series does not include a code for demo feedback. Those are only included with the “regular” Armada University courses.

THE LIVE SERIES - PART TWO

In their live masterclass, GoldFish recreate their new (and yet be released) single, ‘Simple Man’. They break down everything from how it was made to the inspiration behind it, the sounds they chose, where those sounds came from, their Live elements in the track and the mixdown of the record. They share the collaboration with the vocalist and working with the vocal itself production-wise. In this case, the vocal was recorded wrong with lots of recording noise and was extremely gated. They went about cleaning up the vocal while keeping the incredible vibe of the record intact. Enjoy this journey as they share how they performed production surgery on the vocal to get this record right!

In his live masterclass, Marco Lys starts a new track from the beginning and shares his steps along the way, displaying his sound design and workflow in Cubase. He always begins with the kick and works with his pre-sets, as creating templates in the studio helps him keep the creative workflow. He discusses how he mixes during the production process and shows his tricks with EQ and compression, filters and Cubase’s drum machine. Whether you yourself work in Cubase or not, there is a ton of information in here from the veteran tech house and techno producer.

Maxim displays his unique ways of producing music in Ableton. As a DJ-minded producer, he shares how he can connect that DJ mindset and techniques into producing his records. He loves working live and creating live situations and displays how he manipulates the sounds in his productions as if he were DJing for thousands of people. He shares how little you actually need sound-wise to get a groove going and how searching for sounds all day is a waste of time. Maxim is an incredible artist on the rise and this live experience was one of the best we’ve captured yet.

A favorite among students due to two amazing previous courses for Armada University and FaderPro so far, Ørjan Nilsen dives into his workflow and builds a track from scratch in front of a live audience. Watch him work with the groove and melody to kick-start the record and walk you through everything from his in-the-box Cubase presets to his sound design, his arrangement and finishing up the mix and master.

A seasoned masterclass artist with Armada and Armada University, Rodg shares how he can use his cell phone to inspire creativity during his live masterclass. He literally has a guest speak the words “I love Dutch cheese” into his cell phone, and subsequently turns that phrase into a track, showing you how you can get creative and how you can manipulate sounds (a vocal phrase in this case) to be whatever you want it to be. Funny as it may be, he’s displaying how quickly you can use any sample or vocal to get an idea going and use it as a way to create a new record.

FaderPro co-founder and Logic Pro expert Vincent di Pasquale shares his incredible knowledge and insights on to quickly get an idea down and record it into Logic so that you can stay in that creative headspace. He pulls up Logic’s Ultra Beat, grabs some killer sounds and shows you how you can create your own custom kits for when you’re starting a project and are in need of some creativity. He manipulates Ultra Beat to be his drum kit machine and then quickly flies those into Logic where he has some quick sounds baked into Logic, all so you get to focus on the main leads and other sounds sooner.
